AGENSO is a company implementing innovative solutions for agriculture and the environment, and its team consists of people with high expertise and extensive research experience in universities, companies, European and national programmes. Our people hold postgraduate and doctoral degrees in agricultural engineering, information technology and environmental management, and have professional experience in various research institutes and universities (eg. Centre for Research and Technology, Hellas (CERTH), Agricultural University of Athens (AUA), and the Center for Renewable Energy Sources & Saving (CRES)).

The company specializes in the development of information and communication technology (ICT) solutions for agriculture and the environment, and specializes in promoting research and services in the fields of sustainable agricultural production, environmental sustainability and advanced technologies, following the goals that EU has set with the 7th Environment Action Plan.

AGENSO’s staff has participated in more than 40 research projects at European and National level (FP7, Horizon2020, ERANET ICT-AGRI, FIWARE and RCI), and the company maintains a close relationship with industry as well as research institutes regarding provision of services and transfer of expertise.

AGENSO is currently participating in 10 European Horizon 2020 projects, 4 European ICT-AGRI projects and 8 National programmes Research – Create – Innovate, for the development of ICT solutions and software for the agricultural and environmental sectors. In addition, it offers services to more than 10 universities and research institutes in Greece and abroad (Denmark, Germany, Switzerland and Finland).

In addition, AGENSO’s portfolio includes the development of agricultural robots and 6 solutions for agriculture and the environment. The company also offers precision agriculture services and consulting services to individual farmers and agricultural cooperatives.

The INSTITUTE OF COMMUNICATION AND COMPUTER SYSTEMS NATIONAL TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY OF ATHENS (ICCS NTUA), is under the regulatory establishing and operating framework, University Institute, i.e. NPID, community of interest, oriented in research, as evidenced by its title, associated with the NATIONAL TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY and supervised by the MINISTRY OF EDUCATION.

In particular, ICCS NTUA was established under PD 271/1989, which is valid as amended by PD 13/1998.

These provisions have been further amended pursuant to Article 11 of Law 3685/2008 “Institutional framework for postgraduate studies”, under the title Research University Institutes, which was further amended pursuant to Article 32 of Law 3794/2009 “Regulation of issues of the university and technological sector of higher education and other provisions”, under the title Research University Institutes (RUI) as well as by Law 4310/2014, as in force today. Pursuant to Article 1§1 of the founding decree, the Institute belongs organically to the National Technical University of Athens and is affiliated with the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering of this institution, a fact which unquestionably confirms the characterization of this NPID as university, i.e. constitutes organic part of the NTUA, gaining though explicit and real administrative and financial autonomy, according to article 1§2 of Presidential Decree 271/1989.

According to article 2 of the founding PD, the purpose of the Institute is:

  • Conducting research, developing expertise and transferring technology.
  • The development of computer science in Greece.
  • The development of high technology products to support the Greek electronics industry, the development of telecommunications and the automation of the manufacturing industry in Greece.
  • Supports the postgraduate studies conducted at the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens as well as the purposes of the same Department in general.

Areas (scientific areas) activities of the institute are mainly the following:

  • Machine-man systems
  • Telecommunications
  • Industrial automation
  • Hybrid and integrated circuits
  • Application software and management systems
  • Hardware and computer systems.

To achieve its goal the institute:

  • Prepares and conducts studies and research programmes which refer to the area of ​​scientific interests of the institute.
  • Produces original products and provides services related to its research and development activities.
  • Promotes the development of relationships and collaborates with other research institutes domestically or abroad that carry out similar or related activity.
  • Specilize scientists and technicians in his fields of activity.
  • Provides the necessary technological equipment
  • Develops any other activity related to its purposes.

Since 2004, the e-trikala office utilizes new technologies by successfully implementing Municipal, National and European projects. On April 8, 2008, having the required experience, it developed into a Developmental Societe Anonyme O.T.A, under the name e-Trikala SA, where 99% of the share capital belongs to the Municipality of Trikala and the remaining 1% to Trikala Chamber of Commerce.

Its purpose is to improve the daily lives of citizens in a medium-sized city, to simplify their daily transactions, to reduce telecommunication costs and to offer new services. In addition, the applications of new technologies, are the new way of citizen’s participation in decision-making processes while at the same time they make the Public authorities, guarantors for the proper functioning of the local society in relation to the digital and remote service of the citizens.

The Laboratory of Sanitary Engineering was founded in 1981 and belongs to the Department of Water Resources and Environmental Engineering of the School of Civil Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens. The Laboratory is legislated by the P.D. 573 / 1-6-81 (Government Gazette 149 / 11-6-81-Issue A) and was integrated into the School (then Department) of Civil Engineering with the decision of the Senate from 17-12-1982. The areas of activity of the laboratory include training, basic and applied research and the provision of consulting services in matters relating to water resources management and the environment.

More specific scientific areas being covered are water resources management, water treatment, wastewater and sludge treatment, solid waste management, wastewater and sludge reuse and utilization, quality of aquatic environment, ecosystems and environmental impact studies.

The Laboratory is accredited for water, sewage and sludge analysis according to ISO 17025 (ESYD).
